DinnerSt. Margaret’s College has an excellent team of Chefs and Assistant Cooks who prepare three square meals a day. Our Head Chef, Markus, has extensive international experience and has worked as a Chef for a French Embassy. The quality and variety of food on offer is amazing! His wife, “Mrs Gwen” is a student icon, preparing the desserts, slices, muffins and any number of things for those of us with a sweet tooth.

The menu follows a six-week cycle, and is then reviewed by a committee of students and staff at the end of each cycle, to ensure that everyone is happy. You will be hard pressed to find better food at any other College in the country.

At breakfast you are spoilt for choice with 6 cereals, fruit, yoghurt, many different breads (including on occasion fruit loaf, crumpets and English muffins), as well as a number of cooked items such as backed beans, eggs (scrambled, poached), hash browns, sausages, spaghetti, sauteed mushrooms and even pancakes!

Lunch has an extensive salad bar along with a cooked item, and for those bottomless pits, a toasted sandwich maker is available. Packed lunches are made available in the morning if you are unlucky enough to have a class over the lunch hour.

For dinner, there is a vegetarian dish, and two main items, one of which carries the heart foundation tick and there is always a tasty dessert, sometimes employing the College’s own soft serve ice-cream machine.
