St. Margaret’s College places a high emphasis on community involvement. To start the year, rather than having initiations, we take part in a variety of community service projects. In the past these have included helping to build an entire house for Habitat For Humanity, and working with Te Araiteuru Marae (who we continue to have a relationship with). In the last two years we have worked in conjunction with North Dunedin’s Community Constable to help various people in the community with odd jobs,  and have worked at the Orokonui Eco Sanctuary.

Near the end of the year, we also have an evening of performances for Friendlink, an organization that helps people with special needs make friends. This is a great night of entertainment for them, and is always a highlight of the year for the performers.
