As well as our more organised and formal academic support measures, there are a number of other features that helps students thrive at University.

St. Margaret’s College has a large number of returning students who are more than happy to talk to students about courses they have taken and give advice on particular problems. A list of all the previous papers taken by returning students is made available, so first year students know who to contact.

At the start of the year the Welfare Staff team run a session on Study Skills and hints for University study after coming from NCEA. The College then breaks into smaller, more course specific groups so students can get advice on some specifics from returning students.

The College employs a Senior Tutor to oversee the Tutorials, Mentor groups, Academic Breakfasts and Language Suppers. The Senior Tutor lives onsite and is always available to help.
